Our hotel in Eastbourne is The Lansdowne Hotel, one of the oldest family-owned hotels in Eastbourne with a gorgeous seafront vista. The perfect location for a relaxing break, it is just a short walk from the pier, the Congress Theatre, and the Towner Art Gallery to name but a few. The hotel boasts the 1912 Steak & Seafood restaurant, a pleasant lounge and bar, and a coffee shop. All bedrooms are en-suite with modern amenities and free WiFi. The hotel also offers occasional evening entertainment.

SUNDAY

We depart Macclesfield in the morning calling for coffee en-route to Bicester Garden Centre where we break for lunch. We continue south aiming to arrive in Eastbourne late afternoon.

MONDAY

A free day for you to settle in and explore Eastbourne. See the award-winning seafront, famous Carpet Gardens or fascinating Napoleonic fortress. Wander down to the harbour, take a boat trip, soak up the view from the 1930’s bandstand or Victorian Pier. The choice is yours!

TUESDAY

We begin today with a visit to the historic town of Battle, home to the ruins of the Abbey built by William the Conqueror and the location of the Battle of Hastings in 1066. After time for morning coffee and a stroll around the charming town with its independent shops, cafes and museums, we then continue to Bateman’s, the family home of Rudyard Kipling, author of The Jungle Book and Just So Stories. This 17th century Jacobean house with its mullion windows and oak beams is set in the Sussex countryside and provided sanctuary to this world-famous writer and inspired his work. WEDNESDAY

After breakfast we head to Goring and the English Martyrs Catholic Church to see the world’s only known reproduction of the Sistine Chapel ceiling; painted by one of their parishioners, it is a stunning sight to behold. Next, we visit bustling Brighton, a popular seaside resort offering a wonderful mix of regency heritage and artisan shops. With ample time to admire the iconic Royal Pavilion or take a stroll along the famous pier and the shopping lanes, soak up the Brighton scene and relax with lunch in one of the independent cafés.

THURSDAY

Our leisurely morning excursion takes us over the South Downs to the delightful Cuckmere Valley and the charming village of Alfriston, one of the oldest and prettiest villages in Sussex. Take a morning stroll and sit with a coffee before returning to Eastbourne for lunch and an afternoon to spend as you please.

FRIDAY

After breakfast we head for home calling for coffee en-route to Banbury where we make our lunch stop. We aim to arrive in the Macclesfield area around teatime.
