Winding our way through Wales on the Llangollen Railway
We begin the day with a spot of shopping and a delicious lunch at St Asaph Tweedmill. Then, we take the scenic route to Llangollen, where we board the Heritage Railcar train for a picturesque ride alongside the River Dee. Who wouldn’t want to enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery in the country? At the end of our journey the coach will meet us at Corwen, and we then head for home. (Inc. a single train journey)

Gordon Riggs & Hebden Bridge Artisan Market
We begin our day with a call at Gordon Riggs Garden Centre for morning coffee. We then continue to Hebden Bridge for a wander around its artisan market; bohemian streets; from artisan shops and contemporary galleries to organic pavement cafés, the town is justifiably proud of its artistic identity. Make sure you pay a visit to the market where you’ll find stalls selling all sorts of quirky wares. You will have plenty of time for a leisurely lunch and to explore before our return journey home.

Springtime at Sefton Park & Speke Hall
We begin with a visit to Sefton Park; many are surprised to hear that the magnificent Grade I listed, 200-acre park is not in fact a natural landscape but completely manmade. At this time of year the lake is surrounded by millions of golden daffodils, and you will have ample time to stroll, stop for refreshments and visit the Palm House. Then we take the short journey to Speke Hall. A rare Tudor timber-framed manor house in an unusual setting on the banks of the River Mersey, it was restored in the 19th century, it is a unique mixture of aesthetics and surrounded by gardens and woodland. Ormskirk Market & Southport
Come and delve into the stalls and delights of Ormskirk market, one of the country’s oldest and most traditional street markets held around the famous clock tower. Then it’s on to the beautiful seaside town of Southport for an afternoon; seek out the local parks and gardens, take a stroll along the pier, or go for a browse in the shops along Lord Street, there is much to see and do!

Scenic Wales & Portmeirion for Sunday Lunch
Our focus today is the beautiful views of Wales; as we make our way through the stunning countryside awash with late-Spring colours, we call for a short comfort stop en-route before arriving in Portmeirion. A unique village set on its own private peninsula on the southern shores of Snowdonia, we will arrive in time for lunch at Castell Deudraeth Hotel. The afternoon is then yours to spend at leisure. Clitheroe & Samlesbury Hall
Having called for coffee along the way we head to the historic market town of Clitheroe. Enjoy lunch, peruse the market stalls, or visit the smallest Norman castle in England. Afterwards we take the short journey to Samlesbury Hall for a guided tour; see the opulent garments of the house’s previous occupants and hear all about the Hall’s fascinating social history, there’s everything from beheadings to bewitchings! After the tour pop into the café and explore the grounds, including the beautiful courtyard, the quatrefoil rose garden, and the new Bee and Heritage Centre. (Inc. guided tour)

The Yorkshire Dales & the Wensleydale Creamery
Our little homage to fromage, climb aboard as we travel to the Yorkshire Dales. After a refreshment break en-route we stop at the delightful village of Hawes set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Our destination is the Wensleydale Creamery, home of the famous crumbly Yorkshire cheese. Wander through the fantastic visitors centre at your leisure, try a sample or two and grab lunch at either the Creamery or in the village. Mid-afternoon we re-board the coach for the scenic route home following the River Ribble down through the National Park. Making a quick comfort stop as we go, we aim to arrive home early evening.

We head to the historic market town of Oswestry, famous for its award-winning market and independent shops. Alternatively, why not delve into Oswestry’s industrial heritage with a visit to the Town Museum, or its literary legacy as the hometown of famous war poet Wilfred Owen. After lunch we take the short journey to Ellesmere Lakes to the Boathouse restaurant for a relaxing Cream Tea. We then head for home.

The National Arboretum with a Cream Tea
We head straight to Alrewas and the National Arboretum to arrive in time for the short Act of Remembrance service. The remainder of the day is then yours to explore at leisure. Take a stroll or ride on the land train through the parkland to see the many moving memorials that honour those that have fallen in war. We complete the day with a cream tea before we head for home. A Celebration of Tulips at RHS Bridgewater
The RHS have transformed the former grounds of Worsley New Hall in Salford into a stunning 154-acre garden. The site, which was once home to the third Duke of Bridgewater, and adjoins the historic Bridgewater Canal, has now become a beautiful green space for the local community and visitors to enjoy. Since RHS Bridgewater opened more than 12,500 tulips have been planted all around the gardens. Nearly 60 species and cultivars can be found, demonstrating the extraordinary breadth of colours and forms. Today we venture to Wray in Lancashire for their famous Scarecrow Festival. We call for a browse and an early lunch at Barton Grange Garden Centre, then it’s on to Wray for an afternoon stroll around the village-come-scarecrow-ridden maze! With ample time to view all the displays, we finish with time for tea in the church hall.
