Derbyshire Well Dressing Day Out

We begin our day with a visit to Peak Village for a browse and a spot of lunch. Then its on to the pretty village of Ashford in the Water for their annual Well Dressing and Church Flower Festival. These wonderful, handmade works of art are created using natural materials such as petals and seeds by dedicated volunteers, and they really are a sight to behold. With the rest of the day in Ashford why not enjoy this quaint rural celebration with afternoon refreshments in one of the local eateries before we head for home.

Mon 8th June

Chester or The Zoo

Jump aboard and visit the famous Chester Zoo! Home to over 20 000 animals all housed in beautiful and award-winning zoological gardens, there are over 500 different species to see. Whether this is your first or your 101st visit, there is something for everyone! Alternatively spend the day in Chester; take a cruise on the River Dee, walk the walls, visit one of the museums, see the incredible cathedral or browse the brilliant shops, there is so much choice. The coach will drop off first at the Zoo and then take the short journey into Chester to drop off the remaining passengers. Zoo Tickets not included. (Via Wilmslow & Bramhall)

Pot House Hamlet & Cannon Hall Museum

After calling at Pot House Hamlet for morning coffee we make our way to Cannon Hall, a stunning Georgian house set in 70 acres of parkland and beautiful gardens. Originally the home of the Spencer family, it now houses collections of furniture, paintings, ceramics and glassware. You will have ample time to wander, and there is a choice of cafés for lunch as well as a farm shop. Also home to Channel 5’s ‘Cannon Hall Farm’ series, why not visit the farm? (Entrance to the Hall and gardens is free; entrance to the farm must be pre-booked online before our visit).

Llandudno & The Paddle Steamer ‘The Waverley’

We venture to the fabulous seaside resort of Llandudno. Explore the town under your own steam or alternatively join us for a trip on the world’s last seagoing paddle steamer, the magnificent ‘Waverley.’ This nostalgic cruise takes in views of the stunning Great Orme and Puffin Island. You will have free time in the morning before boarding at around 13:00, then return at around 16:30 (Please book early, limited seats available).

Fri 26th June

Lichfield – Museum, Cathedral & Crafts

We begin the day with a refreshment stop at the delightful Amerton Farm Craft Centre, where we will have time for coffee and a browse. We then continue to Lichfield for its beautiful cathedral, glorious parks, brilliant shopping centre and classic local market. Lichfield is also home to English poet and physician Erasmus Darwin, grandfather of naturalist Charles Darwin. His home is now a Grade I listed building and museum, commemorating his life. Why not pay a visit? Entrance is £5.00 payable directly on the day.
