Brooklands, The Motor Car & The Cotswolds

Staying at The Bull Hotel, Gerrards Cross

3 DAYS | 9th October 2026

By special request we are once again visiting the fantastic Museum of Brooklands – the birthplace of British motorsport and aviation. Many world records were set here and many aviation firsts. During our short break we also visit the Transport Museum in Coventry and Cotswolds Motoring Museum, home to an impressive collection of vehicle memorabilia.

Our base for the weekend is the 4* Bull Hotel situated in the charming town of Gerrards Cross. The hotel offers a modern bar, pleasant lounge area and excellent restaurant. All bedrooms are en-suite with modern facilities including TV, spacious bathroom and courtesy tea tray. The hotel also has a lift.

FRIDAY

We depart making a quick comfort stop enroute to Coventry where to visit the amazing Transport Museum. It houses the largest collection of British-made road transport held in public ownership. Here we discover the stories behind the people who made Coventry the centre of the world’s motor and cycle industries. The Museum is laid out as a journey through time; you’ll wander 19th Century streets and discover the first bicycles, carriages and cars, then explore the first car factories and gasp as you witness their wartime destruction in the Blitz Experience. Moving through the rise and fall of the city’s largest industry, you will come face to face with the world’s fastest car – Thrust SSC. Fancy something a little different? Why not take a stroll to the nearby Cathedral and shops. Mid-afternoon we re-join the motorway network taking us to Gerrards Cross and our base for the next two nights.

SATURDAY

This morning we venture to the Brooklands Museum. We start with a guided tour giving you an insight into the museum. The remainder of the day is then yours to explore the site at as you please. There are collections of classic racing cars and vintage aircraft, and you can go on board Concorde and see inside the awardwinning Aircraft Factory. Walk in the footsteps of the motorsport and aviation pioneers who broke boundaries in endurance and technology, making Britain what it is today. We return to the hotel late afternoon for dinner and an evening at your leisure.

SUNDAY

After a relaxing breakfast we board the coach taking the route north to Bourton-on-the-Water where you have the opportunity to visit the Cotswolds Motoring Museum. The museum will take you on a fascinating journey through time as we explore the history of 20th century motoring. The collection of rare vehicles and classic memorabilia will give a nostalgic glimpse into life on the road as it used to be. Alternatively spend your time exploring Bourton; otherwise known as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’ there are lots of independent shops and cafes to choose from. We leave mid-afternoon making a quick comfort stop en-route and aiming to arrive in the Macclesfield area early evening.
