It’s not difficult to see why Jersey is the most popular of the Channel Islands. Enriched in local culture, an exciting place to shop, and a relaxing place to unwind and rejuvenate, it is a delightful blend of France and England but with a character all of its own. Here you will have no passport or language problems yet enjoy a climate which is the envy of the British mainland. There are broad bays and sandy beaches, pretty harbours, beautiful parks, historic castles and fascinating museums.

The 4* Golden Sands Hotel is situated right on the beach in the centre of St Brelade’s Bay, and offers excellent views of one of Jersey’s finest beaches. The Golden Sands restaurant where breakfast and dinner are served has views over the beach, the Cafe Bar serves food all day and is a perfect place to enjoy something delicious, from fresh local seafood to scrumptious desserts and ice cream. All bedrooms are en-suite and feature TV and refreshment making facilities. Some rooms have balconies and many have stunning sea views. The hotel also has WiFi and a lift.

WEDNESDAY

We depart Macclesfield for the journey to Birmingham Airport. We take a midday flight to Jersey and upon arrival we are escorted to our hotel. In the evening, we have a welcome meeting introducing us to all this plucky little island has to offer.

THURSDAY

To get our bearings, today we have a full day tour of the island. Taking in many of the beautiful sights, we will call for lunch whilst we are out and about.

FRIDAY

Today is yours to spend as you please. Head to the bay for some bracing sea air, visit the church in St Brelade’s, or why not hop on the bus to St Helier and browse around the shops?

SATURDAY

Today is liberation day, a national holiday that commemorates the end of the German occupation. Why not head to St Helier to see the celebrations.

SUNDAY

Our morning excursion takes us to the fabulous Botanic Gardens at Samarès Manor, owned by Seigneur de Samarès. The extensive areas are diverse in style and gloriously peaceful, with both a herb and Japanese inspired garden. Why not pay a visit to the rural life museum for a guided tour or pop into the café, shop and plant centre? The afternoon is free for you to explore as you choose.

MONDAY

If you fancy something a little different today, why not book a two-hour boat trip. Setting sail from St Helier harbour, the cruise takes you around Elizabeth Castle. Hear the fascinating tale of the saint who resided there in a cave as a hermit, and see the beautiful sights of St Aubin’s Bay, Noirmont Point and Corbier. Why not combine the trip with a visit in the morning to St Helier for a little shopping (the bus is easy to catch from outside the hotel).

TUESDAY

Mid-morning, we head for the airport and our midday flight home. A Roy McCarthy Coach will meet us in Birmingham and we then continue our journey home.
