The unique culture and history of the Outer Hebrides stretches back thousands of years and is a wonderful blend of both Gaelic and Scandinavian heritages, unique to Scotland and the British Isles. With the network of causeways and ferries, you can easily go from the bottom of the Outer Hebrides to the top. The coastlines are rugged and the seascapes are breath-taking, dramatic cliffs with the whitest surf ends its oceanic journey from America, and spotlessly clean deserted beaches with cream coloured sand are accompanied by the sound of gulls as they ride the air currents. TUESDAY

We depart Macclesfield for our journey north calling for coffee and lunch en-route to the Onich Hotel, situated on the banks of Loch Linnhe, for our overnight stay. All bedrooms are en-suite.

WEDNESDAY

The next leg of our journey takes us up through Fort William passing Loch Nan Uamh Viaduct, with stunning scenery all the way to Mallaig. After our ferry crossing to Lochboisedale we then cross North Uist to Benbecula and the Dark Island Hotel, our home for the next two nights. We arrive at the hotel in time for dinner. The hotel has a restful lounge/bar and dining room serving tasty local produce. All bedrooms are en-suite with a TV, and courtesy tea trays.

THURSDAY

Today we meet our guide for a tour of South Uist, the Isle of Eriskay and, travelling by ferry, we make our way to the Island of Barra. Barra is the most southerly of the inhabited islands and long famed for its beautiful beaches, hills, machair and moor all in one small island.

FRIDAY

After breakfast we say farewell to Benbecula and travel up through North Uist, taking the ferry to the Isle of Harris, a mountainous island fringed by white beaches and coves. The final leg is to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis and the Cabarfeidh Hotel for the next four nights. The Hotel is situated in the town centre and offers a pleasant lounge, bar and dining room. All bedrooms are en-suite with modern facilities.

SATURDAY

Today we meet our guide for a tour of the Isle of Lewis and the Isle of Harris. The tour takes us to the northern part of the Hebrides with its rolling moorlands. We stop off at the Callanish standing stones and visitors centre, the ancient thatched ‘Blackhouses’ Museum and take in the scenery of Uig, The Butt of Lewis, Port of Ness and Doune Carloway Broch. Making stops for coffee and lunch as we go.

SUNDAY

A day at leisure for you to spend as you please. Relax at the hotel or head out to explore Stornoway town. Why not visit the Museum Nan Eilean or pop into the Lewis Loom Centre?

MONDAY

We begin the day with a scenic drive up the coast past the beautiful beaches of Col and Gress to Tolsta where there is the fabulous Garry beach with the Garry Stacs. Reboarding the coach we continue our scenic drive passing Holm Point, the infamous location of the HMY Lolaire naval yacht disaster. We make our lunch stop in Stornoway then head south to Kinloch to visit their Community Hub and the Historical Society Museum. Our final port of call is Seaforth Harris Tweed for an informative talk about the history of the fabric, complete with demonstration of how it is made on a traditional loom.

TUESDAY

This morning we depart the Hebrides as we take the scenic ferry crossing to Ullapool. We then continue south through Scotland for our overnight’s stay. All bedrooms are en-suite.

WEDNESDAY

After breakfast we head for home calling for coffee and lunch en-route, aiming to arrive early evening.
