A Relaxing Break in Sidmouth & South Devon

Staying at The Royal York and Faulkner Hotel, Sidmouth

6 DAYS | 27th August 2026

Sidmouth is one of the most unspoilt resorts in the country and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful. Quiet and unhurried it is ideal for a relaxing get away. In the resort you will find delightful gardens, cliff path walks, picturesque beaches, and shops that still offer the personal service and friendliness found in a country town.

Our hotel is situated on the seafront on Sidmouth’s Esplanade and is perfectly located for all the resort amenities. The Royal York and Faulkner Hotel has been in the same family for 50 years and was the first hotel to be built in Sidmouth. The hotel boasts three lounges, a cocktail bar, and a health complex with mini spa pool, sauna and solarium. All rooms have en-suite facilities, TV, and courtesy tea trays.

THURSDAY

We depart Macclesfield calling for coffee enroute to Sanders Garden Centre where we call for lunch. We will then continue south to Sidmouth and we aim to arrive in time for a stroll along the seafront before dinner.

FRIDAY

Our excursion today takes us to the fantastic Jacobean manor that is Mapperton House. After enjoying a morning coffee upon arrival, we then join a tour that amongst others boast the magnificent Earl of Sandwich collection. You will have ample time for lunch in the Coach House Café followed by a stroll around the award-winning gardens. We then head back to Sidmouth making a stop at the Donkey Sanctuary on the way for an afternoon cuppa.

SATURDAY

Today is market day in the quaint town of Chard, nestled in South Somerset. Browse the stalls, grab some lunch and perhaps visit the local museum. We then take the scenic run back to Sidmouth arriving back at the hotel early afternoon to spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

SUNDAY

This morning we venture to Exmouth in time for morning coffee before boarding the Stuart Line Cruiser for a tour along the Jurassic Coast. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Jurassic Coast takes its place alongside other natural world sites and is of unique historical significance. Running from Exmouth to Old Harry Rocks near Swanage, this unspoilt stretch of coastline reveals a unique geological portrait of 185 million years of the Earth’s history, sequentially exposed in dramatic cliffs, secluded caves, coastal stacks and barrier beaches. Along the way we are treated to a Devon cream tea served on board.

MONDAY

A free day for you to enjoy the hotel’s amenities or take a wander around Sidmouth. Why not take a stroll to Connaught Gardens for morning coffee, perhaps take the local bus into the cathedral city of Exeter or higher a deckchair on the beach and sit and watch the world go by. The choice is yours!
