Cornwall boasts a well-earned reputation as one of the country’s most popular holiday destinations, and it’s not difficult to see why. 300 miles of spectacular coastline, rugged moorlands, idyllic villages, beautiful gardens and a colourful heritage all await those who visit.
Our relaxing Cornish break is based at The Rosemundy House Hotel, ideally situated in four acres of secluded and sheltered gardens, and yet only one hundred yards from the main street of St. Agnes. Less than a mile from the beach at Trevaunance Cove, the hotel is based on a Queen Anne Residence with comfortable bedrooms each with en-suite facilities, TV, and courtesy tea trays. There is a delightful lounge bar offering occasional evening entertainment and restaurant serving freshly prepared traditional English fayre.
THURSDAY
We depart calling for coffee and lunch en-route to St. Agnes and The Rosemundy House Hotel.
FRIDAY
This morning we have a leisurely start to the day with a free morning to explore the hotel and all that St Agnes has to offer. In the afternoon we pay a visit to Trelissick Gardens for its stunning maritime views and lovely woodland walks. (NT Members: Free; Non-members approx. £16.15). Discover the exotic plants and herbaceous borders bursting with colour as you explore the meandering paths. Trelissick has its own art gallery run by the Cornwall Crafts Association and showcases a wide range of work from local Cornish artists.
SATURDAY
A day for you to enjoy at leisure in St. Agnes. Why not catch the local bus to Truro, take a stroll to the beach or just sit and relax in the hotel garden?
SUNDAY
No holiday to this corner of England would be complete without a visit to the famous Eden Project. Built inside an old clay pit in south Cornwall, the Project consists of a series of magnificent biomes; giant greenhouselike structures made from inflatable plastic cells, supported by steel frames. The unique structures allow for the creation of artificial climates, where a myriad of native plants from tropical and desert environments can thrive. The two main biomes emulate rainforests and the Mediterranean respectively and house a vast selection of stunning plants. The site also includes expansive outdoor gardens and various art installations and exhibitions. Together with several places to eat, the Eden Project makes for an excellent day out.
MONDAY
Today we head to Falmouth, Cornwall’s leading south coast resort and home to the area’s maritime heritage. A flourishing port for over 400 years, now it is a bustling town with many attractions offering something for everyone! After a free morning’s exploration and a spot of lunch, we take the short journey to the National Trust gardens of Glendurgan; a historic and exotic wooded valley garden leading down to the Helford River (NT Members: Free; Nonmembers: £13.00). Meander at your leisure and perhaps partake of a Cornish cream tea in the café before we make our way back to St Agnes and our hotel.
TUESDAY
Our morning is spent at the Bonython Estate Gardens where we have a guided tour of the recently remodelled Georgian Manor. Peruse the walled garden with herbaceous borders and pay a visit to the traditional Potager Garden. As you stroll through the beautiful orchard keep your eye out for the series of small lakes for which Bonython is also famous. We complete our visit with morning coffee and cake before returning to St Agnes for a relaxing afternoon to spend as you please.
WEDNESDAY
After breakfast we say a sad farewell and head for home; calling for coffee and lunch en-route we aim to arrive early evening.
