Staying at The Royal York & Faulkner Hotel, Sidmouth
5 DAYS | 24th October 2026

New for this year is our Autumn time tour to Sidmouth and South Devon. Sidmouth is one of the most unspoilt resorts in the country and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful. Quiet and unhurried it is ideal for a relaxing get away. In the resort you will find delightful gardens glowing with autumn colours, cliff path walks, picturesque beaches, and shops that still offer the personal service and friendliness found in a country town.
Our hotel is situated on the seafront on Sidmouth’s Esplanade and is perfectly located for all the resort amenities. The Royal York and Faulkner Hotel has been in the same family for 50 years and was the first hotel to be built in Sidmouth. The hotel boasts three lounges, a cocktail bar, and a health complex with a mini spa pool, sauna and solarium. All rooms have en-suite facilities, TV, and courtesy tea trays.
SATURDAY
We depart Macclesfield calling for coffee enroute to Sanders Garden Centre where we stop for a browse and lunch. We then continue south to Sidmouth and our hotel.
SUNDAY
This morning we take the short journey to Seaton where we embark for a ride on the Seaton Tramway. It’s Autumn beauty all the way as the scenic route takes us through the Axe Valley with views of the river and wetlands. Ideal for birdwatching, at this time of year many species like Wigeon, Teal, and Lapwing arrive for the winter. The tram takes us up to Colyton Station where we have time for morning coffee before re-boarding the tram for the return journey. We then head back to Sidmouth calling at the Donkey Sanctuary for a short visit before returning to Sidmouth.
MONDAY
A day at leisure in Sidmouth. Why not take a stroll along the seafront, do a little shopping or visit Connaught Gardens, it’s just a short uphill walk from the hotel and there is a fabulous tearoom overlooking the sea.
TUESDAY
Today we venture to Exmouth where we make our morning coffee stop. There will be ample time for a stroll along the seafront before we continue to the fabulous Bicton Park Gardens in their autumnal splendour. A riot of golden hues, the 200 acres of beautiful landscape together with the Palm House, Italian Garden and Arboretum are a feast for the eyes. During your visit why not take a trip on the Bicton Woodland Railway?
WEDNESDAY
After breakfast we head for home calling for coffee en-route. Stopping for a browse and lunch at Clarks Shopping Village, why not start your Christmas shopping early? We then continue our journey home making a comfort stop en-route and aiming to arrive early evening.
