4 DAYS | 15th April 2022
The mighty waterway that is the River Thames is 346 km long and today boasts hundreds of attractions on its banks, from the ancient to the modern. Once a great artery of trade and commerce, a genuine gateway to the rest of the world, the Thames stands now more as a symbol, a quintessential part of London’s identity. So, to help celebrate the longest river in England, we visit several of the attractions on its banks including Savill Gardens and Hampton Court Palace, and take to the waves with cruises from Maidenhead to Royal Windsor and Richmond to Hampton Court, Henry VIII’s magnificent riverside Palace. On our return journey we visit the historic city of Oxford. So jump aboard as we embark on a voyage steeped in horticultural beauty, history and fame!

Our base for the short break is the 4* Bull Hotel situated in the charming town of Gerrard’s Cross in Buckinghamshire. Set in landscaped gardens it boasts an award-winning restaurant, bar and relaxing lounge. All bedrooms are en-suite with modern facilities including TV and courtesy tea tray. The hotel also has a lift.

FRIDAY
We depart the Macclesfield area calling for coffee en-route to Savill Gardens where we arrive for a late lunch. Part of the Royal Landscape and one of Britain’s finest ornamental gardens, it’s 35 acres of interconnecting gardens and exotic woodland are not to be missed. Every garden has its own unique attraction featuring a distinctive group of plants that introduce a fresh burst of vibrant colour throughout the seasons. Late afternoon we take the short journey to Gerrards Cross and our hotel for the next three nights.

SATURDAY
Beginning with a short drive to Maidenhead for coffee, we then board our boat for a cruise to Royal Windsor, seeing the homes of the stars as we go, from Billy Connelly to Sir John Mills. Also passing through Bray and Boveney Locks, Oakley Court and Monkey Island, the cruise then continues with spectacular views of Windsor Castle. We arrive in Windsor in time for lunch and there will then be free time to explore; why not visit the castle or take a stroll around Eton? We re-board the boat once again at 16.15 to head back to Maidenhead where the coach will be waiting to meet you and whisk you back to Gerrards Cross.

SUNDAY
After a leisurely breakfast we take the short journey to Richmond where we will then board a River Cruiser for a trip to Hampton Court Palace. With the day at your disposal, you can fully immerse yourself in the magnificence of Henry VIII’s favourite royal residence.
