Join us on our festive adventure and launch your winter celebrations in style! For the first part of our trip we head to the wonderful Longleat House; known as one of the best examples of high Elizabethan architecture in Britain and one of the most beautiful stately homes, the famous Safari Park launches the Christmas season with its fantastic ‘Festival of Light’. With Europe’s largest display of giant Chinese lanterns the estate is transformed into a glowing winter wonderland. Beautiful by daylight it is simply incredible after dark! The second part of our holiday takes us to the eternal city of Bath for its Christmas markets. Come and lose yourself amongst the dozens of twinkling wooden chalets and independent shops spread across the Georgian streets, there are also countless places to sit, eat, drink and absorb all the wonder of this magical time of year. And if you need a break from all that sparkle? Bath’s famous collection of museums and galleries are all there for you to discover, there really is something for everyone!
Our base for the tour is the historic market town of Chippenham and the 17th Century, Best Western Plus Angel Hotel. The Angel is situated in the heart of Chippenham and offers high quality accommodation with a pleasant lounge bar, The Angel dining room, a garden, indoor pool, gym and Wifi. All bedrooms are en suite with a TV and courtesy tea tray.
We depart Macclesfield, calling for coffee and a quick lunch stop en-route to Longleat. We aim to arrive early afternoon, so you will have free time to visit the house. Mid-afternoon we board the coach for a trip through the wonderful Safari park. Then its time for the Festival of Light, where you will have ample time to stroll and explore. We then take the journey to our hotel to arrive in time for dinner.
After a leisurely breakfast we head to the historic city of Bath as it comes alive with Christmas finery. Why not take a stroll around the traditional market chalets, selling all sorts of decorations and gifts? Don’t forget a tipple of Glühwein and some delicious festive food, there is everything from bratwurst sausages and waffles to stollen cake. Alternatively why not grab a light lunch in one of the many trendy cafes or bars? Then maybe visit the stunning Abbey or one of the many museums? The choice is yours! We depart Bath mid-afternoon and head for home making a comfort stop en route.
