Prince Charles’ Gardens at Highgrove

Staying at Blunsdon House Hotel

2 DAYS | Summer 2022

We are pleased to offer a short break to Gloucestershire and to Highgrove. Since 1980 when The Prince of Wales first arrived at Highgrove, His Royal Highness has devoted much energy to transforming the gardens around the house. With the help and advice of notable individuals and the dedicated assistance of the garden staff, what was once a somewhat bleak landscape is now one of the most creatively inspired gardens of today. A series of interlinked areas, each with their own character and purpose, weave magically around the garden, with the house always visible in the distance.

Our base for the short break is Blunsdon House Hotel. Set in 30 acres of beautiful Wiltshire countryside, the 4-star Swindon Blunsdon House Hotel, BW Premier Collection has 2 restaurants, 3 bars and leisure facilities including an indoor pool. The spacious rooms have en suite bathrooms, free WiFi, TV. and tea and coffee-making facilities.

We depart Macclesfield calling for coffee en-route to Evesham where we make our lunch stop. Free time to take a stroll around the town or perhaps visit the local museum and have lunch before we take the short journey to Hidcote Manor Gardens. Hidcote is an Arts and Crafts inspired garden created by the talented American horticulturist, Major Lawrence Johnston. Its colourful and intricately designed outdoor ‘rooms’ are always full of surprises. Time to explore the maze of narrow paved pathways and discover secret gardens, magnificent vistas and plants that burst with colour and then why not complete the visit with refreshments in the tea rooms. (National Trust Property members free, non-members £13.50) Late afternoon we head south taking the scenic route through the Cotswolds to our hotel, arriving with time for a drink in the bar before dinner.

After a leisurely breakfast we take the short journey to the pretty village of Tetbury. Time to wander at leisure and have morning coffee before we continue the short journey to Highgrove. Upon arrival we have a guided tour of the gardens, followed by free time in the Orchard Tea Rooms for lunch and a little retail therapy in the shop. We then board the coach for our journey home. We make a comfort stop en- route and aim to arrive in the Macclesfield area early evening.

Tour includes: Luxury coach travel throughout, 1 night dinner bed and breakfast, entrance to Highgrove Gardens with a guided tour.
