Staying at The Fisher’s Hotel
5 DAYS | 24th October 2021
This year our Autumn tints tour takes us across the border to Scotland as the glens and mountains explode with colour. Our base for our adventure is the popular holiday resort of Pitlochry. Famed for its hospitality, rejuvenating atmosphere, stunning scenery and rich clan history, there is plenty to see and do in this welcoming highland town. Venturing to both Loch Earn and Loch Tay, we will also enjoy a guided tour of Glenturret Whisky Distillery, and pay a visit to Glamis Castle. The highlight of the tour is an evening stroll through the unique ‘Enchanted Forest’ light and sound experience nestled in Faskally Wood; a show not to be missed!
A traditionally Scottish establishment The Fisher’s Hotel is perfectly located in the centre of Pitlochry, and it has recently undergone refurbishment. On offer are the Courtyard Restaurant as well as three bars, including the popular Kingfisher Pub. All bedrooms are en-suite with bath or shower rooms, TV and courtesy tea tray.
We depart Macclesfield calling for coffee enroute to Moffatt where we break our journey for lunch. We then continue north to our hotel aiming to arrive late afternoon.
Today we venture into the glorious countryside taking us down the side of Loch Tay to the village of Killin for a restful coffee stop. We then continue through the Perthshire villages and along the shores of Loch Earn to Crieff for lunch. In the afternoon we visit the world’s oldest distillery, the Glenturret. Having enjoyed a guided tour and tasting we head back to the hotel for the evening.
After a leisurely breakfast our autumn theme continues with a scenic drive to Glamis Castle and Gardens; the childhood home of the Queen Mother. After an early dinner we head to the ‘Enchanted Forest’ sound and light show; a unique and bedazzling experience that has won many accolades including the UK’s Best Cultural Event at the VisitScotland Cultural Awards. Using the woodland garden as a natural backdrop, this is a light show that is quite simply, out of this world.
This morning we have a short drive to the Queen’s View at the head of Loch Tummel; famous for being one of Queen Victoria’s favourite spots. At this autumn time it is a truly a magnificent combination of purple clad hillsides, a shimmering loch and rustic autumn leaves. We then continue to the House of Bruar shopping venue that also boasts a café and wonderful nature trail. In the afternoon we return to Pitlochry for you to spend at your leisure.
After a relaxed breakfast we journey south calling for morning coffee at the New Lanark Visitors Centre. We make a late lunch stop at Tebay Services with its fabulous farm shop. Continuing on home we aim to arrive in the Macclesfield area early evening.
