A rugged coastline with a backdrop of the North York Moors National Park is the setting for the East Coast’s resorts and fishing villages. This is a coastline of high cliffs and rocky shores, rich in flowers and wildlife. Our tour explores the seaside resort of Scarborough with its beautiful sandy beaches, Spa complex and medieval castle, the picturesque fishing port of Whitby with its quaint cobbled streets, picturesque houses and famous Abbey overlooking the town. Finally, Ravenscar, our base for the tour and one of the most places on the Yorkshire coast with its intriguing clifftop location and most unusual claim to fame, ‘the town that never was’.

The Raven Hall Hotel dramatically sits 600 feet above sea level, overlooking Robin Hood’s Bay in Ravenscar, and is ideally located to explore this stunning area. The hotel has beautiful gardens and a heated indoor swimming pool. It also boasts a pleasant bar and dining room overlooking the sea, serving traditional cuisine. All bedrooms are en-suite with TV and courtesy tea trays and there is a lift to the second floor.

We depart Macclesfield calling for morning coffee en-route to Burnby Hall Gardens, where you will have free time for lunch and a stroll. The magnificent gardens are home to the National Water Lily collection, but there is also the Secret, Victorian and Aviary Gardens to explore. We then continue on our scenic journey across country to Ravenscar and our hotel.

Today we venture south calling at Flamborough Head and Lighthouse for morning coffee. We continue on to the seaside resort of Bridlington with it’s bustling harbour and array of eateries for lunch. Mid-afternoon we head back giving you time to stroll around the hotel grounds.

After breakfast we take the short journey to Robin Hood’s Bay for a relaxing morning coffee. We then continue to Whitby, where fish and chips is a must for lunch. In the afternoon we will take the a scenic route through the North Yorkshire Moors down to Pickering and to Thornton Le Dale where we will make a quick stop for an afternoon cuppa.

Our excursion today takes us to the Peasholm Park area of Scarborough. After time for a morning coffee its all aboard the North Bay Heritage Railway for a return trip to Scalby Mills. The coach will then take us to the famous Victorian seaside town of Scarborough. Why not take a stroll along the promenade or have a browse around the shops? We return to the hotel mid-afternoon.

We say farewell to Ravenscar and head for home calling for coffee en-route to Lotherton Hall. This charming Edwardian country estate was once home to the Gascoigne family. We have time to visit the house to see what life was like in the Edwardian era, peruse the fabulous bird garden and have lunch before we continue home. We make a comfort stop en-route, aiming to arrive home early evening.
