Bath, Bristol & The Brilliance of Brunel

Staying at the stylish 4* Mecure Holland House Hotel

4 DAYS | 23rd October 2020

Bristol is a modern and vibrant city whose history goes back thousands of years, showcased perfectly by the eclectic mix of buildings that line the streets. Set on the banks of the River Avon, the city has a rich maritime history and was a major port for trade. Isambard Kingdom Brunel, one of the world’s greatest engineers, has strong links with Bristol through the development of Bristol Docks, the Clifton Suspension Bridge, the Great Weston Railway and SS Great Britain. From the more serious industrial historian to those simply looking for a new adventure, there is something on this tour for everyone.

Our base for our stay is the stylish 4* Mecure Holland House Hotel that boasts a quiet location with only a short five minute walk into the city. The Urban Bar & Kitchen prides itself on cooking with local produce, and the large indoor swimming pool and fitness suite are the perfect spots to unwind after a day out and about. All rooms have en suite bathrooms, WiFi and a courtesy tray . There are also lifts to all floors.

FRIDAY
We depart Macclesfield in the morning making a quick coffee and lunch stop en route. Having arrived into Bristol we will meet our guide for a tour of this fascinating city and the surrounding area. Whilst touring the city we will pass some of Brunel’s great masterpieces, making our way to the Clifton Suspension Bridge and the visitor’s centre where we will have time for a wander. After the tour we make our way to the hotel and our base for the tour.
