A Relaxing Break in Sidmouth & South Devon

Staying at The Royal York and Faulkner Hotel

6 DAYS | 18th July 2020

Sidmouth is one of the most unspoilt resorts in the country and as one of the most beautiful. It is ideal for a relaxing get away. In the resort you will find delightful gardens, cliff path walks, picturesque beaches, and shops that still offer the personal service and friendliness found in a country town.

Our hotel is situated on Sidmouth’s Esplanade and is perfectly located for all the resort amenities. The Royal York and Faulkner Hotel has been in the same family for over 50 years and boasts three lounges and a cocktail bar, and a wonderful health complex. All rooms have en suite facilities, TV, and courtesy tea trays. The hotel has a lift.

We depart Macclesfield calling for coffee en route to Burnham on Sea where we make our lunch stop. We will then continue south to Sidmouth and we aim to arrive in time for a stroll along the sea front before dinner.

A day for you to enjoy at leisure in Sidmouth. Why not use the local bus to visit the Donkey Sanctuary or Seaton Tramway? Connaught Gardens is also just a short uphill walk from the hotel with a fabulous tea room overlooking the sea.

Today we have a delightful boat trip on the River Exe. Venturing to Exmouth we board the Stuartline Cruise for an insightful and entertaining commentary highlighting all the sights on this award-winning river, fingers crossed we get to see a local seal! With outdoor upper decks there will be heaps of fresh sea-air to fill your lungs, and the heated indoor lower decks with huge windows also make for excellent viewing. When we arrive back at Exmouth we will then board our coach and head back to Sidmouth for in time for lunch and an afternoon at leisure.

After a relaxing morning at your disposal, around lunchtime we venture to Bicton Park Gardens where many rare and beautiful species are on display. You will have time to visit the Palm House, Italian Garden and Arboretum, and why not take a trip on the Bicton Woodland Railway?

This morning we head to the seaside village of Beer where we stop for morning coffee. Then continuing on to Bridport, you will have time for a stroll around the market, have lunch and perhaps visit the local museum. We then take the scenic run back to Sidmouth arriving back at the hotel mid-afternoon.

After breakfast we depart Sidmouth and head for home calling at Rich’s Cider Farm for morning coffee, peruse the shop or why not sample the local Somerset tipple? We carry on north stopping at a garden centre for lunch, and aim to be back in Macclesfield area late afternoon/early evening.
