Staying at the Park Inn by Radisson
2 DAYS | 16th February 2020
Our weekend break takes us to Yorkshire and to the wonderful city of York. One of England’s most popular historic cities with its ancient city walls, quaint cobbled streets, impressive Gothic cathedral York Minster, plethora of museums, and excellent shopping centre. A tightly packed city, York is easy to explore on foot.
Our base for the tour is the centrally located Park Inn by Radisson and features modern air conditioned accommodation, complete with WiFi, as well as a stylish restaurant and bar. Enjoying a beautiful view of the River Ouse the hotel is also just a short stroll from all the major landmarks. The hotel has a lift.
We depart Macclesfield calling for coffee en route to York. Aiming to arrive before lunch you will have the remainder of the day at leisure to visit one of the many places of interest. Why not browse the shops or perhaps visit the Chocolate Story to partake of a Chocoholic’s afternoon tea? Alternatively, why not join us on our visit to Benningborough Hall Gardens for the snowdrops. Set within the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside this country house was built in the 18th century and as winter turns to spring, the gardens come alive with an abundance of snowdrops and pale purple crocuses. (NT members free, non-members £7.00 approx.). We will have time for lunch in the cafe and then a stroll through the gardens, then we will head back to York and our hotel. Dinner and evening at leisure.
After a relaxing breakfast the day is free to do as you please, perhaps take a stroll through the Shambles, walk the walls, maybe visit the Minster or have lunch at the famous Betty’s tearooms. Mid-afternoon we will board the coach for our journey home. Making a comfort stop en route we aim to arrive in the Macclesfield area around tea time.
