Staying at The Virginia Court Hotel
5 DAYS | 27th April 2020
Norfolk is a county well known for its unique landscape of mudflats and saltmarshes; abundant in wildlife this breathtakingly beautiful place is also rich with historical treasures. Norfolk has a wonderful mix of country lanes, villages of flint cottages, sand dunes, seals and steam railways. Our base for the tour is Cromer; once a small fishing village, it is now an attractive holiday resort full of character and charm. The narrow twisting streets in the town centre, the colourful gardens, the sandy beach together with the seafront promenade all make for a lovely holiday destination.
The Virginia Court Hotel is in a quiet tree-lined avenue just three minutes walk from Cromer town centre, the seafront and pier. This stylish hotel offers a very pleasant lounge bar and restaurant and all bedrooms have a TV and courtesy tea tray. Please note that this hotel does not have a lift but does have some ground floor rooms.
We depart Macclesfield calling for coffee en route to Kings Lynn where we have an optional walking tour of this fascinating seaport and market town. There will be free time for lunch before we continue our journey to Cromer.
Our excursion today takes us to Clay Marshes Visitors Centre where we call for morning coffee and to see the coastal and wetland habitats along the shingle beach. We then continue on to Wells Next the Sea where we will have time for lunch before taking a trip on the Wells and Walsingham Light Railway. We head back to the hotel mid-afternoon.
Today enjoy a day at leisure in Cromer or why not join us on a boat trip to see the seals? The optional excursion will be morning or afternoon depending on the tides. The coach will take you to Blakeney Point to board the boat, come and see some of the local wildlife in its natural environment. (Please confirm at the time of booking: If you would like to join the trip, cost £13.00).
This morning we head to Horning for a leisurely trip on the Broads on a Mississippi Paddle Boat. The boat will cruise along the River Bure to Ranworth Broad passing lovely thatched cottages, windmills and local wildlife. There will be free time for lunch in the picturesque Broadland village of Horning, we then take the scenic route back to the hotel to enjoy the remainder of the day in Cromer.
We depart after breakfast calling at St Mary’s Church in Long Sutton for their annual flower festival. You will have time to admire the displays and have a morning coffee before we continue on to Newark on Trent for our lunch stop. We then head for home and aim to arrive in the Macclesfield area early evening.
