Staying at The Royal York and Faulkner Hotel
6 DAYS | 11th September 2019
Sidmouth is one of the most unspoilt resorts in the country and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful. Quiet and unhurried it is ideal for a relaxing get away. In the resort you will find delightful gardens, cliff path walks, picturesque beaches, and shops that still offer the personal service and friendliness found in a country town.
Our hotel is situated on the seafront on Sidmouth’s Esplanade and is perfectly located for all the resort amenities. The Royal York and Faulkner Hotel has been in the same family for 50 years and was the first hotel to be built in Sidmouth. The Hotel boasts three lounges, cocktail bar, health complex with spa pool, sauna and solarium, short mat bowling and a full size snooker table. All rooms have en-suite facilities, TV, telephone and courtesy tea trays. The hotel also has a lift.
We depart Macclesfield calling for coffee en route to the seaside town of Clevedon where we make our lunch stop. There are lovely walks along the seafront and pier with plenty of seats, why not bring a picnic to enjoy? We will then continue south to Sidmouth and we aim to arrive in time for a stroll along the sea front before dinner.
There are two options today. Enjoy a full day in Sidmouth at your leisure or board the coach and head to Axminster for coffee and market day. Also, why not visit the Axminster Museum to learn about the world famous quality carpet making.
This morning we venture to Honiton famous for its lace. You will have free time to stroll around the town and visit the art gallery or lace museum (both free entry) and enjoy an early lunch. For the afternoon we pay a visit to Cadhay House and Gardens. Upon arrival we will have a tour of the house followed by free time to visit the gardens and café.
A day a leisure to relax and take in the sea air.
We have a special treat today, a visit to the World of Country Life where there is lots to see and do. There are extensive outdoor grounds to explore, a Birds of Prey flying display, a museum with a replica Victorian Street as well as a fantastic hall of transport; with over 40 vehicles on display, it is one of the best classic car and vintage vehicle collections in the South West, plus a classic car show takes place today. We then return to Sidmouth mid-afternoon.
After breakfast we depart and head for home calling for coffee en-route to Evesham Country Park where we stop for lunch. We continue our journey home to arrive in Macclesfield late afternoon/early evening.
