Staying at The Loch Fyne Hotel & The Isle of Mull hotel and Spa
6 DAYS | 2nd May 2018
A new and exciting island-hopping holiday. One of this year’s Scottish adventures brings together three beautiful but intriguingly different islands. The first, the Isle of Islay, is also known as the Queen of the Hebrides, with eight working whisky distilleries, stunning scenery and amazing wildlife. We also visit the Isle of Mull, a place to explore or to pause for thought and finally to the tiny island of Iona, of typically Hebridean beauty, it holds a unique place in the story of Scotland and ignites the imagination of thousands who journey there each year.
We spend the first three nights at The Loch Fyne Hotel situated on the shores of Loch Fyne in Inveraray. The hotel enjoys wonderful views across the Loch to the Cowal Hills and boasts a lovely lounge bar. There is also the Clansman restaurant serving locally grown produce and leisure facilities including an indoor pool. We spend the last two nights at The Isle of Mull hotel and Spa, situated on the crescent of Craignure Bay, with stunning views over to Morvern and the west coast. This hotel also has leisure facilities, a pleasant bar and restaurant and the Observatory lounge overlooking the gardens and shoreline beyond. Rooms at both hotels have en-suite facilities, TV and tea tray. Both hotels also have lifts.
We depart Macclesfield in the morning calling for coffee and lunch en-route to the banks of Loch Lomond where we make our afternoon tea stop. We then continue north to arrive at our hotel and base for the next three nights.
Today we venture to Tarbert for our ferry crossing to the Island of Islay. Once on Islay we have a scenic run calling at Port Charlotte Museum, there will be free time for lunch and then we continue on to Bowmore Whiskey Distillery where we have a guided tour. We catch a mid-afternoon ferry to arrive back at the hotel in time for dinner.
Today is a free day for you to explore Inverary.
We say farewell to Inverary and head for Oban, where we will have free time for morning coffee before catching the ferry across to the Island. Once on Mull we take the coastal route to Tobermory, built as a fishing port in the late 18th century and now the main town on Mull. Enjoy free time to stroll around the harbour and visit the museum. Mid-afternoon we make our way to The Isle of Mull hotel with time for a dip in the pool before dinner.
Today we take the short crossing to the Isle of Iona. Once on the island we will have free time for coffee and to browse around the little craft shops. We make the short walk up to the Abbey for our visit to one of Scotland’s most sacred sights.
After breakfast we head for Craignure and our ferry crossing to Oban. Once on the mainland we head south calling for lunch and afternoon tea on route. We aim to arrive in the Macclesfield area early evening.
