Staying at The Virginia Court Hotel
5 DAYS | 16th May 2018
Norfolk is a county of renowned scenic beauty, rich in historical treasures and abundant wildlife. Our base for the tour is Cromer set amidst the pleasant countryside of North Norfolk with its country lanes, villages of flint cottages, and steam railways. Also see the stunning Norfolk Broads, miles and miles of waterways weaving their way through this unique landscape.
Cromer was once a small fishing village and is now a bustling, family holiday resort. Attractive and full of character, Cromer’s narrow twisting streets in the town centre, colourful gardens, sandy beach and lively seafront promenade all make for a lovely holiday destination. The Virginia Court Hotel is in a quiet tree-lined avenue just three minutes’ walk from Cromer town centre, the seafront and pier. This stylish hotel offers a very pleasant lounge bar and restaurant and all bedrooms have a flat screen TV and courtesy tea tray. Please note that this hotel does not have a lift.
We depart Macclesfield calling for coffee enroute to Boston where we have a tour around St Botolph’s Church, better known as the Boston Stump. You will have free time for lunch before we continue on to Cromer and our hotel for the next four nights.
Our excursion today takes us to North Walsham for morning coffee and a browse around the market. We then head to Horning for a leisurely trip on the Broads on a Mississippi Paddle Boat. Mid-afternoon we head back to the hotel.
Our first visit today takes us to the Thursford Collection, the world’s largest collection of steam engines and organs. After our visit we head for Holt station where we catch a steam train on the North Norfolk Line to the seaside resort of Sheringham. There will be time for a lunch before we head back to the hotel. Dinner will be earlier this evening to allow anyone wishing to go to the evening show on the pier.
Today is a free day to explore Cromer and the Crab & Lobster Festivities taking place.
We depart after breakfast calling at Sandringham House and Gardens. Early afternoon we head for home. We aim to arrive in the Macclesfield area early evening.
