Tuesday 3rd

Clitheroe & Browsholme Hall

Calling for coffee as we go, we arrive in the historic market town of Clitheroe in time for lunch. You can explore the array of stalls or why not visit Clitheroe Castle, said to be the smallest Norman Castle in England. After lunch we enjoy the short journey to Browsholme Hall, a Grade I listed house with a pre-eminent collection of historically associated antiques, paintings and furniture, set within the Forest of Bowland. We will have a guided tour of the house followed by a cream tea. (Inc. entrance & cream tea)

Monday 9th

Portmeirion and optional Lunch at Castle Deudreth

Taking the scenic route through the lovely Welsh countryside and calling for coffee along the way, we head to Portmeirion. With its Riviera-inspired houses, ornamental garden and campanile, Portmeirion is a beautiful spot. Its architect, Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, was an ardent environmentalist in the 1930s who wanted to create a functional and attractive private village that would act as ‘propaganda for good manners’. Arriving in time for lunch at Castle Deudreth, the afternoon is yours to spend at leisure in this famous village. (Inc. two course lunch and ent.) Alternatively opt to spend lunch and the afternoon at leisure in this famous village, where there are several places to eat and drink.

Thursday 12th

A day in the Historic City of York

Imagine a full day to explore and enjoy the famous city of York! Making a quick comfort stop en-route we head straight to this iconic and diverse destination to give you the most time possible. Renowned for its exquisite architecture including the famous York Minster and winding Shambles, there are also countless independent shops and eateries for you to sample, the choice is yours! (N.B. Thursday 12th

Breezy Knees: ‘The Flower Garden of Yorkshire’

We make a short comfort break en route to Breezy Knees Gardens. You will have time to explore this 20 acre garden with vibrant borders, sparkling fountains and over 6,000 different varieties of plants to discover. There is a café offering a lunch menu and a selection of tempting cakes. (Inc. entrance) (N.B. This runs in conjunction with York)

Saturday 14th

Cruising Liverpool Bay

Join is as we explore the historic city of Liverpool from a whole new perspective: after a free morning to stroll and to have lunch, we will then board a Mersey Ferry. During the three-hour cruise, you’ll enjoy incredible scenery and learn all about the fascinating history and geography of the River Mersey and Liverpool Bay with expert commentary from a Blue Badge Guide. Take in panoramic views of the river as you sail past the Royal Seaforth Docks, New Brighton and along the Crosby Channel towards Blundellsands and Formby. There will also be the chance to see Anthony Gormley’s statues at Crosby Beach. As we sail back, we follow the journey of many cruise liners and ships, past and present.

Monday 16th

The Welsh Highland Railway

Having made a refreshment stop along the way, today we venture to Caernarfon for a spot of lunch and a stroll. Then it’s all aboard The Welsh Highland Railway for a two hour ride coast to coast through the dramatic scenery of Snowdonia to Porthmadog. The landscape is stunning and changes constantly as the train twists and turns along the tracks. Light refreshments will be served on board, and the coach will collect you at Porthmadog for the picturesque journey home. (Inc. single ticket)

Thursday 19th

Sheffield Botanical Gardens & Wentworth Castle Gardens

Today our adventures take us to Sheffield Botanical Gardens with time for coffee. Home to several listed buildings, the most impressive is the Grade II curvilinear Glass Pavilions, housing plants from all over the world. In the afternoon we journey to Wentworth Castle Gardens where we have time for lunch in the cafe before exploring some of the wonders on offer; there are over 40 acres of formal gardens and national collections of rhododendrons, camellias and magnolias for you to discover. Tuesday 24th

‘Brief Encounter’ – Carnforth to Grange over Sands with the option of Lunch at Clare House Hotel

As we head north we call for coffee at Carnforth Station, the famous filming location of ‘Brief Encounter’. Enjoy time for a wander around the visitors centre before we re-board the coach and make our way to Grange over Sands. Upon arrival you will have the option of joining us for lunch at Clare House Hotel, which includes a selection of sandwiches, scones, tea and cake, or alternatively visit one of the delightful cafés in town. The choice is yours! There will be time after lunch for a stroll along the impressive Victorian promenade and through the Ornamental Gardens before we head for home.

Thursday 26th

Dorothy Clive Gardens for the Rhododendron Display

We begin our day with a visit to Bridgemere Garden Centre for morning coffee and a little time to browse. Then it’s on to the inspiring Dorothy Clive Gardens. An epitome of Spring planting, the display of Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Laburnums and Alliums all combine to create a spectacular sight. There will be time for refreshments in the tea room before we head for home. (Inc. entrance to gardens)
