Saturday 2nd

Hebden Bridge & Bronte Country

Firstly we visit the quirky town of Hebden Bridge for a wander around its bohemian streets and home to many writers and artists who flocked to the town in the 70s and 80s. From artisan shops and contemporary galleries to organic pavement cafés, the town is justifiably proud of its artistic identity. We then take the short scenic journey north to the quaint town of Howarth made famous by the Bronte sisters. With ample time to visit the Bronte Parsonage Museum, take a stroll down the main cobbled street and have an afternoon cuppa before we head for home.

Monday 4th

The Lake District at Daffodil Time

Today we journey to one of the most beautiful areas of the country; calling at Bowness on Windermere in the morning you will have time for a trip on the lake or to visit Beatrix Potter World. In the afternoon we pass Rydal Water on our way to Grasmere; why not visit the Wordsworth Daffodil Garden and a tearoom for refreshments?

Wednesday 6th

Ruthin & Stopping & Shopping in the Clouds

Making a quick coffee stop en-route, we head to wonderful Ruthin for the morning. Like nowhere else in Wales, this surprising little town is layered with centuries of history and set in one of the most beautiful landscapes in Britain. Similarly, you will find elegant 21st century dining, stylish independent shops and a great little museum. In the afternoon we then take the beautiful run over the Horseshoe Pass; making a stop for an afternoon cuppa at the Ponderosa Café, where you will also have time to visit the shop in the clouds before continuing our scenic run home.

Friday 8th

Morecambe and the Iconic Midland Art Deco Hotel

We call for coffee en-route to Morecambe and The Midland Hotel. Upon arrival we enjoy a guided tour of this iconic building, we then take our seats in the Sun Terrace Restaurant for light lunch of sandwiches, cake, scones, jam and cream, tea or coffee. After lunch we have time for a little stroll along the promenade to admire the art influences of the Tern project, and the statue of Eric Morecambe before we head for home. Monday 11th

A Day at the National Arboretum

Calling firstly for coffee at Findern Garden Centre, we make our way to Alrewas and the National Arboretum. Situated in Staffordshire on the edge of the National Forest, the Arboretum is part of the Royal British Legion and is the UK’s yearround centre of Remembrance. Take a stroll around the thought-provoking grounds, wander around the informative and emotive exhibitions, or ride on the land train through the parkland to see the many moving memorials that honour those that have fallen in war. There is a large café serving hot and cold food. (Entrance is free but donations are greatly appreciated)

Thursday 14th

Ormskirk Market & Southport

We depart Macclesfield and make our way to Ormskirk market, one of the country’s oldest and most traditional markets held in the streets around the famous clock tower. There are stalls selling a wide range of goods, there is something for everyone! Next, we will carry on to Southport where we will spend the afternoon, with ample time to explore the beautiful seaside town and it’s parks, gardens, pier and shops.

Monday 18th

Eastertime at the Beautifully Decorated Hanging Gate

Why not enjoy our scenic tour and Eastertime lunch. We call for morning coffee enroute to The Hanging Gate, beautifully dressed for Easter. We then have a three course lunch followed by a scenic run home. (Inc. three course lunch)

Tuesday 19th

Halifax and The Piece Hall

We make a comfort stop en-route to the industrially historical town of Halifax. Standing proud in its centre, the Piece Hall is a Grade I listed building dating from 1779 that was built as a cloth hall for the trading of ‘pieces’ of cloth. Upon arrival we will have a tour by a knowledgeable heritage guide who will lead us on a journey of discovery; now the only surviving building of its kind anywhere in the UK there are many fascinating stories to be told, ranging from the Georgian period right through to the current day. You will then have free time to explore the town and have lunch. (Inc. guided tour)

Friday 22nd

Matlock Bath & Bakewell for Puddings & Tarts

Bakewell is our first port of call for the day, where you will have time for a stroll around the market and morning refreshments, why not sample a slice of the famous Bakewell pudding or tart? We then continue our delightful journey through the Derbyshire Dales to Matlock Bath for lunch. Afterwards maybe take a stroll along the river before boarding the coach for our scenic run home. As a special treat everyone gets to take home a Famous Bakewell Pudding.

Tuesday 26th

Bluebells at Calke Abbey – The Un-Statley Home & Country Estate

Having called for coffee en-route today we visit the fascinating Calke Abbey. With peeling paintwork and overgrown courtyards, Calke Abbey tells the story of the dramatic decline of a country house estate. Discover the tales of an eccentric family who amassed a vast collection of hidden treasures, or visit the beautiful, yet faded, walled and kitchen gardens. Or why not explore the parkland with its 40 minute easy walk through the stunning bluebell woods? There is much to see and the choice is yours! (NT members: free; non-members £6.50)

Thursday 28th

Wray for The Scarecrow Festival

Today we venture to Wray in Lancashire for their famous Scarecrow Festival. We call for a browse and an early lunch at Barton Grange Garden Centre, then it’s on to on to Wray to spend the afternoon strolling around the village. With ample time to view all the scarecrows we finish with time for tea in the Church Hall.

Saturday 30th

Full Steam Ahead on the Severn Valley Railway

Calling for a quick coffee en-route to Kidderminster, we then spend our day on the Severn Valley Railway. We have included a ‘Freedom of the Line’ ticket giving you full access to the line. You could alight the train at Bewdley or go straight to Bridgnorth for lunch. This ticket also includes entrance to the Engine House Museum at Highley; well worth a visit there is also a nice little café for refreshments. The coach will then pick you up at Kidderminster station. (Inc. Freedom of the Line ticket)
