Saturday 1st

Chorley Flower Show

We venture north calling for coffee at Wyevale Garden Centre before making our way to Astley Park for the famous flower show. There is a professional exhibitors’ marquee featuring gold-medal winning entrants from some of the country’s biggest shows, and celebrity gardeners will be hosting talks, demonstrations and answering your questions. There will also be stunning garden displays, an amateur marquee with a variety of classes, and plenty of options for food and refreshments. Why not take a tour of the historic Astley Hall too? This really is a brilliant day out with so much on offer! (Inc. entrance).

Monday 3rd

Haworth OR Haworth & Keighley Railway

Firstly, we call at Gordon Riggs Garden Centre for morning coffee, then continue on to Howarth for the remainder of the day. With ample time why not visit the Bronte Parsonage Museum or meander around the quaint shops that line the village’s cobbled streets? Alternatively, the coach can drop you off at Howarth Station for you to enjoy a day on the Keighley to Worth Valley Railway; with beautifully scenic views to enjoy there is also the opportunity to visit the two Railway Museums. (Rover ticket payable on the day is £15.00 approx.).

Wednesday 5th

A Day in the Cotswolds

Having made a quick coffee stop we head south to the Cotswolds and one of the most beautiful corners of the country. Throughout the day we explore several of the quintessentially English villages of honey-coloured stone including Broadway. Then taking the scenic route through Moreton-in-Marsh we pass by Stowe-onthe- Wold and make our way to the stunning village of Burford; it’s hard not to be impressed with its famous high street that sweeps downhill towards the River Windrush, its three-arched medieval bridge and its iconic church. You will have time for a stroll before taking the route through yet more stunning countryside to Bourton-on-the-Water, where we will make our last stop before heading for home.

Friday 7th

Southwell Minster & The Workhouse

Today we venture to the picturesque town of Southwell. Having called for coffee en route we head to ‘the jewel in Nottinghamshire’s crown’ as it bursts with tradition and character. You will have time to explore the magnificent Southwell Minster with its unique pepper pot spires, then stroll along to the town’s centre to find a great selection of independent shops, friendly pubs, cosy cafés, and restaurants. After lunch there is the option of visiting the atmospheric Victorian Workhouse to hear the stories of those who lived and worked here in the 1840’s. (NT members free, non-members £10.50 approx.).

Sunday 9th

A Leisurely Day in Llandudno

We call for morning coffee en route to Llandudno where we spend the day at leisure. Why not take a stroll along the prom, or sample the traditional seaside fare of fish and chips? Browse the shops or take the funicular railway up the Great Orme, there is so much to see and do in the lovely town of Llandudno! (N.B. This day trip runs in conjunction with Penrhyn Castle).

Sunday 9th

Penrhyn Castle & Garden

We make a stop for morning coffee, then make our way to the iconic Penrhyn Castle, built in the 19th century that is nestled between Snowdonia and the Menai Strait, it is home to many fascinating items, including a one tonne slate bed made for Queen Victoria. As well as an outstanding collection of elaborate carvings and paintings, the restored kitchens, the stable block, and the array of museums are not to be missed. With 60 acres of grounds and parkland to explore, there really is something for everyone! (NT Members free, non-members £15.00 approx.) (N.B. This tour runs in conjunction with Llandudno).

Tuesday 11th

Yorkshire Explorer: Grassington & Kettlewell Scarecrow Festival

Firstly, we call for a quick coffee en route to the pretty village of Grassington, where we will stop for lunch and a browse of the local shops and sights. We then continue on to the delightful Yorkshire village of Kettlewell for the afternoon to see their annual scarecrow festival in full swing. Young and old alike put their all into this wholesome local event and should not be missed!

Thursday 13th

‘Brief Encounter’: Carnforth & Grange Over Sands

As we head north, we call for coffee at Carnforth Station, the famous filming location of ‘Brief Encounter’. With time to wander around the visitors’ centre and explore the platform you can see where all the action did (did not) happen! We then board the train for a trip to Grange over Sands, enjoying stunning scenery over the River Kent and great views of Morecambe Bay. We will spend the remainder of the day in this pretty Edwardian resort. So why not take a stroll along the promenade or through the delightful park. There are lots of cafés and tea shops to choose from. (Inc. single train ride).

Saturday 15th

Cruising Liverpool Bay

Join is as we explore the historic city of Liverpool from a whole new perspective: after a free morning to stroll and to have lunch, we will then board a Mersey Ferry. During the three-hour cruise, you’ll enjoy incredible scenery and learn more about the fascinating history and geography of the River Mersey and Liverpool Bay with expert commentary from a Blue Badge Guide. Take in panoramic views of the river as you sail past the Royal Seaforth Docks, New Brighton and along the Crosby Channel towards Blundellsands and Formby. There will also be the chance to see Anthony Gormley’s statues at Crosby Beach. As we sail back we follow the journey of many cruise liners and ships, past and present.

Monday 17th

A Day on the Planes: RAF Cosford

Firstly, we call for coffee en route to the RAF Museum at Cosford; dedicated to the history of aviation and the Royal Air Force. It is situated next to an active airfield and is the only place in the Midlands where you can get so close to so many breath taking aircraft free of charge. There will be ample time for lunch and the afternoon is yours to explore at leisure. (Entrance free). (N.B. This runs in conjunction with Attingham Park).

Monday 17th

Attingham Park

We begin our day calling for coffee en route to Attingham Park; built for the first Lord Berwick in 1785, and was owned by one family for more than 160 years. As their fortunes rose and fell they proved themselves to be spenders, savers and saviours, creating a story of love and neglect that is still recognisable in Attingham’s rooms today. Particularly unique is the contrasting masculine and feminine rooms on the different sides of the mansion, as well as the tranquil space of the walled garden. Thursday 20th

Lancaster & The Waterway in the Sky

The fascinating and historic city of Lancaster boasts a captivating castle, an array of museums as well as amazing Georgian architecture that lines the banks of the serene River Lune. Come along and explore the quirky boutiques, independent galleries and renowned high street brands in Penny street. Mid-afternoon we take an amazing canal cruise along the Lune Aqueduct one of the “wonders of the waterways” and a masterpiece of engineering. Reaching heights of nearly 100 ft across the stunning River Lune. This really is an unmissable trip! (Inc. cruise).

Saturday 22nd

Southport or Southport Flower Show

Today we head to Southport where you have two choices of how to spend your time. Either head off and explore the delights of this lovely seaside town with its fabulous Lord Street shops and relaxing gardens, or alternatively visit the famous Flower Show. There is lots on offer at the show from gorgeous floral displays to show gardens full of great ideas. There are also two theatres where some of the nations most loved gardeners and chefs will make an appearance. The choice is yours!

Tuesday 25th

Matlock Bath & The Peak Railway

Our first port of call is Hartington village with its cheese shop and have morning coffee. Next, we head to the unique village of Matlock Bath; nestled alongside the River Derwent in a steep and beautiful gorge, it developed as a spa town in the 19th century and was extremely fashionable and prosperous. We will have time to take a stroll along the river, take a peek in the shops and have a leisurely lunch. Our afternoon treat takes us to Rowsley where we board the Peak Railway for a scenic journey along the old Midland Railway line, all whilst being served a delightful cream tea. Thursday 27th

Garstang Market & Lytham St Annes

Why not join us for a summertime day out of retail therapy and revitalising sea air? We venture first to Garstang where we spend the morning, with ample time to visit the local market and browse the shops. For the afternoon we visit Lytham St Annes to blast off the cobwebs by the coast. Why not take a stroll along the seafront, through the park and along the pier and then perhaps treat yourself to afternoon tea in one of the many cafés?

Sunday 30th

The Scenic Welsh Wanderer

A lovely relaxing and scenic day out. We begin our day with a Garden Centre visit for morning coffee. We then continue on through the beautiful Welsh countryside and on to Betws-y-Coed in time for lunch. After a leisurely lunch we head down the Conwy valley to spend the afternoon in Rhos on Sea where we will have time for a stroll along the prom and an ice cream.
