Wray for the Scarecrow Festival

Today we venture to Wray in Lancashire for their famous Scarecrow Festival. Curious, then why not join us? We call for coffee en-route to the pretty little town of Kirby Lonsdale where we stop for lunch. We then continue on to Wray to spend the afternoon strolling around the village to view all the scarecrows with time for tea in the Church Hall.

Tuesday 7th

Stoney Ford Cottage Garden

We make our way to Grosvenor Garden Centre where we will have time to browse the great selection of plants and have an early lunch. Next, we make our way to Stoney Ford Cottage Garden; having featured on Gardeners World and they are also listed in the top ten spring gardens. They have been developed over 20 years by the Overland family, there is a wealth of planted areas, meandering streams and constantly flowing, spring-fed fountains. We will have a 45 minute guided tour followed by free time to explore at your leisure, and we will finish with a cream tea before we head for home. (Inc. entrance and cream tea included)

Monday 13th

A Taste of the Seaside

Our trip today gives us a lovely morning in Lytham with time for a stroll along the seafront and to take in the sea air. At lunchtime we meet at Seafarers for our seaside special lunch: fish, chips and mushy peas. You will have free time to walk your lunch off before we make our way to Coronation World, Blackpool’s largest rock factory, come and see all parts of the confectionary making process from the purpose built viewing area. There will be time to visit the shop before we head for home. (Inc. fish, chips & peas tea bread and butter)

Thursday 16th

Bluebells at Renishaw Hall

Calling at Carsington Water for coffee we then continue on to Renishaw Hall to visit the Italianate Gardens, museum and café. You will also have time to stroll in Broxhill Wood, which at this time of year will hopefully be carpeted with the most glorious azure carpet of bluebells (Inc. entrance to gardens)

Sunday 19th

A Day Trip to Whitby

Come with us and discover the jewel in the crown of Yorkshire’s coast: Whitby. Many things make Whitby famous including an historic fishing harbour, haunted abbey, quaint narrow streets full of shops, as well as the fantastic fish and chips. We arrive in time for lunch and then you will have the afternoon at leisure to stroll through the town, why not take a trip on the open top bus or perhaps a cruise around the harbour.

Tuesday 21st

Dorothy Clive Gardens for the Rhododendron Display

We make our way to Bridgemere Garden Centre for morning coffee and a little time to browse. Next we make our way to the intimate, informal and inspiring Dorothy Clive Gardens. The pinnacle of a Spring flowering display with Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Laburnums and Alliums all combine to create a spectacular display. There will be time for refreshments in the tea room before we head for home. (includes entrance to gardens)

Tuesday 28th

Ferry Across the Mersey

Today we venture to the Wirral and to Woodside Ferry Terminal. We will have time for coffee in the grade II listed building with its balcony overlooking the River Mersey, and enjoy unrivalled views of Liverpool’s famous skyline. Late morning we board the Mersey Ferry for our sail across to Liverpool. The remainder of the day is at your leisure in Liverpool; why not visit the superb Maritime Museum or take a stroll around Albert Dock all within a few minutes walk of where the ferry docks. The coach will collect you from Liverpool ferry terminal for the journey home. (Inc. ferry crossing)

Thursday 30th

Llandudno Seaside Special or Bodnant Gardens

We call for morning coffee en-route to Llandudno. Having dropped off the passengers wishing to spend the day in Llandudno, we then continue on to Bodnant Gardens where at this time of year the Rhododendrons should all hopefully be at their best. The coach will collect the Bodnant Gardens passengers mid-afternoon and then return to Llandudno to collect the remaining passengers. (Bodnant Gardens NT members free, non-members approx. £13.50 payable on the day)
