Tuesday 4th

The Wonder of Wales – the Marble Church & Conwy

Today we call at St Margaret’s Church Bodlewyddan, better known as the Marble Church, where we have a guided tour with morning coffee and Bara Brith. We then continue on to Conwy, where we spend the afternoon. Why not enjoy a stroll by the harbourside, visit the castle or have lunch in one of the many cafes or pubs? Thursday 6th

Following In Charlotte Bronte’s Footsteps

Firstly we visit Oakwell Hall and discover the stunning Elizabethan house feature in Charlotte Bronte’s novel ‘Shirley’. We will have a guided tour and time for coffee before we continue on to Haworth, where we will spend the remainder of the day. There are lots of places for a late lunch, many quaint little shops to browse and the Bronte Parsonage Museum is a fantastic visit. (Inc. guided tour of Oakwell Hall)

Wednesday 12th

Turbury Woods Owl & Birds of Prey Sanctuary & Southport

Today we venture to Turbury Woods Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre; a unique collection of over 90 birds of prey there are eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, vultures and more unusual species to be seen. The Sanctuary is purely volunteer based and non-profit making. We will call at the nearby garden centre for coffee and then visit Turbury Woods where we will be shown a flying display and will have time to have a look around. We then continue on to Southport for the afternoon.

Saturday 15th

Southwell & the Workhouse

Having called for coffee en-route we head to the picturesque little town of Southwell. Bursting with tradition and character Southwell is often referred to as ‘the jewel in Nottinghamshire’s crown’. You will have time to explore the magnificent Southwell Minster, with its unique pepperpot spires, then stroll along to the town’s centre to find a good selection of independent shops, friendly pubs, cosy cafés, and restaurants. After lunch there is the option of visiting the atmospheric Victorian Workhouse where you hear the stories of those who lived and worked here in the 1840’s. Wednesday 19th

The Welsh Highland Railway

We venture to Porthmadog calling for coffee en-route. We arrive in time for lunch and a stroll before boarding The Welsh Highland Railway for a two hour ride taking us Coast to Coast through the dramatic scenery of Snowdonia to Caernarfon. The scenery is stunning and changes constantly as the train twists and turns through the landscape. Light refreshments are served on board. The coach will collect you at Caernarfon for the journey home. (Inc. single ticket)

Friday 28th

Oswestry for the Artisan Market & The British Iron Works

We venture to the town of Oswestry for the Artisan and Farmers Market. This friendly little town has an interesting mix of small independent shops, Cafes, restaurants and pubs. Shopping isn’t the only local activity you can discover its industrial heritage with a visit to the Town Museums or follow the Wilfred Owen trail to find out more about the famous war poet’s childhood in Oswestry. After lunch we take the short journey to The British Iron Works where we have time to watch the Blacksmith, Silversmith and Budding Delights floral design at work and to visit the shop and not forgetting the café for a cake. (Entrance to The British Iron Works is free but they kindly ask for a £1.00 donation to charity.)
