NSPCC Day Trip to Boundary Mill or Skipton Market

This year we will again be supporting the NSPCC with our Charity day trip. Spend a full day shopping at Boundary Mill for all those bargains. You will find great value for money offers, top brand names and not forgetting the M&S Outlet. Arriving by coach you get the added bonus of an extra 10% off everything in store. (not valid in the café) ALTERNATIVELY after morning coffee rejoin the coach and continue on to Skipton for lunch and a browse around the market. Bucks Fizz will be served en-route. ALL PROCEEDS WILL BE DONATED TO THE NSPCC.

Monday 5th

Crocus Special – Poulton-le-Fylde and Fish & Chips

We head straight for Poulton-le-Fylde on market day and to admire the amazing display of crocuses at St. Chad’s Church. Around lunchtime we head for Lytham St Annes for Fish and Chips at Seafarers. There will be free time for a stroll along the prom in Lytham before our pleasant run home. (Inc. Fish, chips and peas, tea/coffee bread and butter)

Thursday 8th

Loughborough Bell Foundry

Having called for coffee en route at one of the churches that have bells that have been cast at the famous Foundary. We then venture on to Loughborough for lunch and then to its Bell Foundry, it is the largest in the World and operational since the 14th century. We will enjoy a guided tour around the works of the working foundry which is spread over two floors, spend time in the museum and with a room full of bells for you to try! (Inc. guided tour & coffee).

Thursday 15th

Halifax & the Piece Hall

New for this year is our visit to the Piece Hall in Halifax. Standing proud in the centre of the town, the Piece Hall is a Grade I listed building, dating from 1779, it was built as a Cloth Hall for the trading of ‘pieces’ of cloth (a 30 yard length of woven woollen fabric produced on a handloom). It is now the only surviving building of its kind anywhere in the UK. We call for coffee en-route to Halifax, upon arrival we have a guided tour of the Piece Hall by a knowledgeable heritage guide who will lead you on a journey of discovery telling the stories of The Piece Hall from the Georgian period right through to the current day. You will then have free time to explore the town and have lunch.

Sunday 18th

The Lakes: Ambleside Spring Flower Show or Ambleside

We call for coffee en-route to the pretty Lakeland town of Ambleside. We will arrive in time for lunch and you will have the afternoon at leisure. Take a stroll around the town or visit the Daffodil and Spring Flower Show, a traditional friendly village show held at the Kelsick Centre. There will be open competitive classes in spring flowers, herbaceous plants and shrubs, bowl classes, pot plants, alpines and rock plants, open floral arts, amateur photography, handicrafts and cookery, including sugarcraft. Refreshments will be available. (Entrance to the show not included, payable on the day £2)

Friday 23rd

Whalley & Lunch on the Border of the Trough of Bowland

Firstly, we travel to the village of Whalley with its famous Abbey and well know ladies dress shop, Maureen Cookson’s, where we stop for morning coffee and a browse, we then take the short journey on to Ferrari’s Country House Hotel where we will enjoy a three course lunch. Our scenic return journey takes us along the border of the Trough of Bowland. (Inc. lunch)

Tuesday 27th

Steaming Through Wales

We arrive at St Asaph Tweedmill in time for a little retail therapy and lunch. We then travel over the Horseshoe Pass to Llangollen, where we board the steam train and enjoy the journey alongside the River Dee, offering some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. (Inc. single train ride)
