Sunday 1st

The Duke of Westminster’s Garden at Eaton Hall

Firstly we call at a Garden Centre where we stop for a browse and an early lunch. We then take the short journey on to the home of the Duke of Westminster and the magnificent Eaton Gardens, which are only open to the public four times a year. (Inc. entrance)

Thursday 5th

Guided Tour of Port Sunlight Village

Today we head to Port Sunlight where we will have time for morning coffee before we meet our guide for a tour around this fascinating village. Afterwards you will have free time for lunch and to wander at leisure around the village; why not visit the museum, the famous Lady Lever Art Gallery or the church before we head for home. Tuesday 10th

The Yorkshire Dales & the Wenslyedale Creamery

We head north calling for coffee en-route to the delightful village of Hawes set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Upon arrival we have a two course lunch at the Wensleydale Creamery, followed by a demonstration on cheese making, then time to visit the museum and try a little sample or two. After lunch and the demonstration there will be around an hour to take a stroll in the pretty village of Hawes. We head for home by following the River Ribble down through the Yorkshire Dales National Park down through Ingleton. (Inc. two course lunch, Cheese Demonstration & museum entrance)

Thursday 12th

A Visit to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Training Centre

We spend the morning with a tour of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Centre, giving us an insight in to how the dogs are trained. We then continue on to Rochdale Garden Centre and Gordon Riggs Bistro where we stop for lunch and a browse before returning home.

Monday 16th

A Springtime Dawdle in Derbyshire

We begin the day with a lovely scenic run through the Derbyshire Dales, calling at Peak Village for morning coffee and a browse. We then continue our sightseeing tour through the Dales calling at Longnor Craft Centre where we enjoy a light lunch of homemade soup and sandwiches, tray bake cake and tea or coffee. After lunch our scenic run continues, winding our way home. This will be a truly relaxing day with very little walking. (Inc. lunch)

Wednesday 18th

Liverpool for the Terracotta Warriors

We spend the day in Liverpool with the highlight of the day being our visit to The Teracotta Warriors at the World Museum. The exhibition showcases objects from one of the world’s greatest archaeological discoveries, this unmissable exhibition spans almost 1,000 years of Chinese history; from the conflicts and chaos of the Warring States period, to the achievements and legacy of the Qin and Han dynasties. The remainder of the day is at leisure in Liverpool with lots to see and do, perhaps take a ferry across the Mersey, visit the shops or perhaps one of the many other museums. Saturday 21st

Ashbourne, Sudbury Hall & the Museum of Childhood

Our excursion starts with a visit to the pretty Derbyshire town of Ashbourne where we have time to browse the local market and have coffee. Then we will continue on to Sudbury Hall and the Museum of Childhood. The former is the country home of the Lord Vernon, and is full of 17th-century craftsmanship. The Museum of Childhood is a delight for all ages and celebrates the escapades and challenges of childhood. There will be ample time to visit both places and have lunch. Tuesday 24th

‘Brief Encounter’ – Carnforth & Grange Over Sands

As we head north we call for coffee at Carnforth Station, where ‘Brief Encounter’ was filmed. Here we have time to wander around the visitors’ centre and explore the platform where all the action happened. We then board the train for a trip to Grange over Sands, with stunning scenery over the River Kent and great views of Morecambe Bay. We will spend the remainder of the day in Grange over Sands. Friday 27th

“Strictly” Good Old Blackpool & the Tower Ballroom for Afternoon Tea

Having made a quick comfort stop en-route to Blackpool, our first port of call is Coronation Rock where we watch how the famous rock is made and how they get the letters in the middle, quite fascinating. We then head into Blackpool for a stroll along the prom and for lunch. Mid afternoon we step into the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, home of ‘Strictly’, it is like stepping back in time with the dance floor, its opulent balconies and the intricately painted ceiling. Sit and listen to the organist play the grand Wurlitzer and watch the world dance by as you enjoy a traditional Afternoon Tea served at your table. (Inc. Afternoon Tea)

Monday 30th

Bluebells at Calke Abbey – The Un-Statley Home & Country Estate

We call for coffee en-route and spend the remainder of the day discovering Calke Abbey. With peeling paintwork and overgrown courtyards, Calke Abbey tells the story of the dramatic decline of a country house estate. Discover the tales of an eccentric family who amassed a vast collection of hidden treasures, or visit the beautiful, yet faded, walled and kitchen gardens. Or why not explore the parkland with its 40 minute easy walk through the stunning bluebell woods. (NT members Free non-members £13.50)
